Building Immunity

How to

BUILD STRONG IMMUNITY

I'm seeing a lot on social media around immunity- from masks to herb recommendations. Sadly, none of these is going to really prevent viral infection. Or any type of infection, for that matter.

We have several different viral particles in our systems on any given day, no matter how much we wash our hands. I'm not saying not to engage in hygienic practices - please do - but they don't change your immunity. They simply reduce your pathogenic exposure a little bit.

Herbs and supplements don't heal you - but they can help support immunity.

None of the above will save you from getting sick if you have a stressful, depleting lifestyle.

That's because stress and depletion cause low immunity. The only thing that will prevent you from getting sick, is supporting the parts of yourself which exist to effectively handle ubiquitous pathogens.

Maybe you can't change your stressful depleting lifestyle overnight; maybe it's going to take some time to get out of the patterns that suck your life-force. In the meantime, go back to basics.

When a plant is failing to thrive, we make sure it has the basics - water, sun, good soil. For you, that's good emotions, good food, good rest.

Of course, the physical, emotional and life energetics are interrelated, and we can make this a complex discussion of circadian functions, inflammation and sympathetic nervous system activation.

However, when you are stressed and depleted, all of that doesn't sink in well. So, here are some very simple tools and shifts you can likely start to incorporate.

Physical Tools

There are infinite physical immune strengtheners, from essential oils to breathing exercises. These are the shifts I find have the greatest impact and sustainability - these can easily be the basis of a simple wellness lifestyle.

1. Go to be earlier. Reclaim regenerative benefits that occur before moonrise. Have more time for your immune system to do it's job.

2. Eat for Vata balancing. Eat real food. Prefer warm, moist, cooked, and with culinary spices. Not too much or too heavy - keep foods easy to digest.

3. Salt Baths. Detox, improve circulation and immunity, and restore your body.

Emotional Tools

Move away from people, choices and experiences that feel degenerative (Vata), and towards regenerative soul-feeding ones. This is a good life approach, but especially important when intending to regenerate any part of yourself.  More specifically, connected and stable are the regenerative feelings for immunity.

1. Feel connected. To spirit, to your inner wisdom, and to your loved ones. Meditation, emotional intimacy, and nature are effective. Creating time and space to connect in ease is key.

2. Cultivate stability. In your daily and weekly rhythms, supports, and by minimizing transitions and changes. Be still. Reduce the number of directions you pour out energy.

3. Healthy boundaries. This means you only let in people, conversations, and perspectives that serve you to feel nourished. This reduces background triggering, and response management, so you can do the connecting and stabilizing better.

Connected, and learning to feel stable,

Siva
