Why a Dr is talking about Astrology

The way I define the practice of Ayurveda, the living application of it,has become a guiding light for many: being regularly in touch with "Where am I at? What do I need to feel well?"

This simple yet profound inquiry forms the bridge between Ayurveda and Medical Astrology.

Ayurveda and Astrology, seemingly disparate disciplines, harmonize beautifully. Both study energetic patterns, offering invaluable personal insights into our holistic well-being.

It's not just about understanding who we are (Constitution), but also about recognizing our Current State and what adjustments are beneficial. Your body's Current State (vikruti) is intricately connected to the positions of planetary bodies transiting specific areas of your astrological chart, which is determined by your birthdate, time and location.

I once did a workshop with a Vedic Astrologer where we took an audience member and split our readings to show how when I read a Constitution from the body, and when she read a Constitution from a birth chart, the results were the same. We each left the room during the other's readings to not influence each other. It was incredible.

This synergy between Ayurveda and Medical Astrology is not merely theoretical; it's practical and another layer of diagnostic clarity. It empowers us to tailor treatments and preventive measures with precision, addressing not just physical ailments but also the deeper energetic and emotional imbalances.

In my own family, I've witnessed the profound impact of this integrated approach:

My mother was literally called up and warned about risk of bleeding or severe inflammation in the stomach area by her astrologer. When she had severe stomach pains, we took it way more seriously than we would have. Honestly, she has had a sensitive stomach forever, and it usually goes away in a few days of natural remedies. As it turns out, she had a bleeding ulcer, and given her anemia and low blood pressure, my normal approach to her care may have resulted in her death. That astrological insight helped us better attend to her health needs.

My astrologer told me about specific challenges in a specific part of my body during a specific year of my life coming up, so I am taking extra care to be supportive of those parts to ameliorate the potential expression of the pattern.

I've worked with cancer patients whom have scheduled their treatments according to the timing guidance from their charts. Parents whom have adjusted their approach with their kids based on which transits are happening in the kids birth charts. I have moved to places which have a desired energetic effect on my mental wellbeing, and benefitted deeply (astrocartography).

Two people's charts can be considered in their effect on each other - so how fundamentallly compatible two lovers are emotionally, in their values, and even sexually can be explored. Relationships with parents and business partners can be optimized by better understanding each others patterns and learning to better work together. This is already being applied in corporate leadership with Human Design (a form of astrological reading).

Patterns can be witnessed through many different lenses: from Ayurveda to blood analysis. All diagnosis is fundamentally pattern recognition.

Personally, the more lenses I have into my patterns, the deeper my acceptance, clarity, and support of them, is. I'm more clear on where I am at, and what I need to feel well.

In gratitude for these ancient sciences of seeing patterns,

Dr. Siva
